Early morning run after a busy Friday! Ran the long version of the Fiesta Bay run going around Mission Bay HS. The kids did great at Mt. Sac! The Frosh represented well especially considering their 2 best were running in different races! The JV girls won the National Championship race which shows our depth. The girls Varsity took 4th in their sweepstakes race and I believe the boys Varsity took 6th in their sweepstakes race. A great day was had by all and the heat was not as bad as it could have been! Great job DONS!
Spent a lot of time in traffic trying to get to the Dons vs. Saints football game and barely made it to see the final 5 minutes! At least we got to listen to it on the radio and they made a great comeback to win it!
Pretty good steady pace except for mile 6, but I always feel better after a day off! We also had a busy day with Open House at school today!

Love to my folks who continue to fight the good fight! <3
Here is a great quote on leadership:
"The very essence of leadership is you have a vision. It's got to be a vision you articulate clearly and forcefully on every occasion. You can't blow an uncertain trumpet." ~ Fr. Theodore Hesburgh
Loving the quote, Mr. R!
ReplyDeleteI thought I might share my favorite quote, which I actually have hanging up in my dorm room. I combined two versions of the quote I have heard, since I just appreciated both versions equally. I actually heard it from Derek Thomas, and it's a great motivator, to say the least. (And no it's actually not a Winston Churchill quote - even though he's my favorite hahA - the author is actually unknown.)
"When you feel like giving up
Remember why you started this journey
And why you have held on for so long."
I figured it might be good for your final weeks on this incredible journey.... or maybe just for the 6+ milers haha.
Keep it up, Mr. R! You're amaaaaazing! Thinking of you definitely gets me out the door every day to run 4 miles around the perimeter of campus (wowee am I out of shape!). Thank you for the constant inspiration! Can't wait to see you maybe during Christmas break! And hang in there - Thanksgiving weekend is almost here! woooooo! (I apparently love exclamation points!!)
As the running club ("Bruinrunners") here says, "study hard and run harder. Because who parties when you're a pre-med student AND a runner?" haha. But really, keep up the great attitude you always have with your teaching and your running. You may have no idea how inspiring you truly are to others, just by your attitude alone. Oh, and that you're just the most amazing person ever for running 2012 miles in one year and teaching aaaaannddd yeah you know all the other stuff you do. Wishing you sunny (but cool) days for running, and some nice rest in your future :)
Wow! I know how busy you are and it means more than I can say that you took all this time to write! (I like them too!!!) Love the quote, the inspiration, the motivation to finish! I REALLY appreciate these comments! I actually get excited when I see one waiting for me! Keep working hard, it will all pay off in the future! I hope to finish sometime around mid Dec. so if you are home, it will be at CCHS track I think. You can run the last few miles with me if you would like. That goes for any of you but I will post about that later. Thanks again JC! You rock!
DeleteOh that would be so amazing, Mr. R! I get back on the 14th (2nd Nutcracker weekend ahhhhhhh!) In the meantime, keep up the great work - you're almost there!
DeleteThanks JC! Best of luck on finals! almost at 1900 miles!
