Evening run today after our Bronco meet this morning in Escondido. It went pretty well & we even had a Frosh winner for the girls! Go Devin!

I have grown fond of the evening runs at Mission Bay with the sun setting in the West, it is usually like a post card!
The movie that my former student, Kevin Santos, made is ready for consumption so here is the link if you would like to check it out. I think he did a great job. It is a little long but he wanted to tell my whole story so a stranger could understand where this is coming from. You also get to meet my parents briefly as well!

Thanks for all of your continued support & please feel free to share this video with anyone who might appreciate it or might want to donate!
Thanks!

Sept. 2nd, Sunday
Today was another excursion around the bay for 8.31 miles. It was pretty busy, it being Labor Day weekend and all but it wasn't as bad as the 4th of July!
I have been thinking a lot about why I chose to do this... Now, there are actually a lot of answers to this question. Obviously, I am raising money for the 2 diseases that have been making life difficult (to say the least!) for my parents. A 2nd reason is to actually SHOW my students that you can do anything you put your mind to no matter how crazy and hard it may seem at first glance. 3rd, it gave me an outlet to deal with the helplessness that I was feeling. When someone you love is struggling and there really isn't anything you can do to help them, you tend to feel worthless, helpless, and just plain bad because you can't help them. This was my way of dealing with those feelings. I may have gone overboard on this, but Go Big or Go Home was the line of thinking...maybe I am a little crazy but I guess that is for you to decide...
Here is an interesting video on the topic of Drive. What motivates people?

Will this work for all people, maybe not but I love the idea personally!

Aug. 27 - Aug. 31
Hi again, time to finally finish off August and get into September. I'll try to keep this as short as I can:
Monday, Aug. 27th:
http://connect.garmin.com/player/216029626
Did 3rd light and left trail today and then hurdles on the track.
Tuesday, Aug. 28th:
http://connect.garmin.com/player/216254480
Today was just the neighborhood run. Gave the kids a break so as not to scare them off before our first race this weekend!
Wednesday, Aug. 29th:
http://connect.garmin.com/player/216602274
Hill Party today so we did neighborhood run as a warm up and I was wary of doing any hills as I don't want to get injured. But I also did 4th light and around the neighborhoods off of Rancho Santa Fe Farms Rd. to get some more mileage in!
Thursday, Aug. 30th:
http://connect.garmin.com/player/216602274
Went for about 4 miles today by way of the short TP run to stairs then back to school via the 1st light with a nice little hill.
Friday, Aug. 31st:
http://connect.garmin.com/player/219145477
A short pre-race run of 2nd light to the stairs. Hope it goes well tomorrow!
I know I'm always asking for $$ but I want to do 2 asks really quick for 2 of my inspirations for my running!
1. We are having our induction ceremony for the Ambassadors this Wednesday and I ask for donations to Natalie Nield's Scholarship Fund this one time each year. We raised $900 last year so I thought I would see if any of you might want to donate. Checks can be made out to TSDF/Natalie Nield memorial Scholarship.
2. Here is the link to a short video that is on the website for the Amanda Post Memorial Golf Tournament site. Her site is on the video and it is pretty cool.. The tourney is this coming Monday and they need golfers so take a day off and enjoy some golf for a great cause.

They are our 2 running angels who I know are helping me get to my goal this year! Both amazing athletes and young ladies!
Total Miles: 1431.34 Pace Runner: 1341.33 + 90.01 miles I'm treading water but plan on getting a good weekend in here soon, I hope!
I also managed to finish August with 169.90 miles, a little over the average I need.
Love you Mom & Pops! <3

Sunday August 26th
Today I ran Fiesta Bay and added on the perimeter of Ski Beach for a little extra mileage. I made a mistake by not charging my Garmin and it died on me at 8.37 miles right in front of Sea World! I did go check the mileage from there to my normal finish past Fiesta Island and it was 1.43 miles so it turned out to be 9.80 miles total. I was hoping for an even 10!
These longer runs are getting more difficult as I get more used to the shorter XC runs we do. I really need to focus on getting some sleep though so I don't get sick!
Here is a video I show during football season and since we are basically there, here it is for you! Very good motivation if you ask me!
http://play.simpletruths.com/movie/what-it-takes-to-be-number-one/
I hope you all had a great summer because it is basically over except for the hot few weeks we will have in September I am sure.
I also broke the 1400 mile mark today!!! We are also at the 70 % mark as well! This is the best I could find as the numbers are very hard to find of late:
Thanks for the continued support and I will try to keep this more current if I can ever catch up to my current position! Take care!
Total Miles: 1408.04 Pace Runner: 1313.85 + 94.19 miles ahead still!
Love to all my peeps out there spreading the word! <3

Aug. 20th - 24th, Mon - Fri
Hey loyal followers!
Sorry that I have been MIA for quite some time but let me tell you that school being back in session, along with running, XC, & property issues have consumed me!
Here is a recap of the first week of school as far as my running is concerned:
Monday, Aug. 20th:
We did a short run in the canyon across from school. The first week of school we tend to get some more new kids on the team and we we need to keep introducing new runs to the kids. This is what we call "Left Trail" but is now called "Sword Way" according to some new signs that have been put in.
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/213251140
Tuesday, Aug. 21st:
Today we introduced our hurdle drill which basically we do about 2 days a week to keep the hips loose and stretched. We did a warm up that we call the "neighborhood run" down DMH through some houses by Carmel Valley Rd. & back to school. Did hurdles along with some drills for form and flexibility and then we did the Old Carmel Valley Rd. cool down. I added another trip through the neighborhood after practice to get a little extra mileage.
http://connect.garmin.com/player/213457400
Wednesday, Aug. 22nd:
We did what we call the "3rd light" run today which is a staple for us. We go down DMH, left on Carmel Valley, turn right at the 3rd stop light then connect to a "running" trail behind a development and then finish in the canyon to the stairs.
http://connect.garmin.com/player/213843271
Thursday, Aug. 23rd:
Today, we went off campus to do the PQ run at Canyonside Park. Ran with the Varsity kids which was a nice change of pace as they are very motivated!
http://connect.garmin.com/player/214185226
Friday, Aug. 24th:
Today we did what we call the "Torrey Pines" run. We run west on DMH rd. and then go through some houses and enter the canyon right by TP HS and then work our way back to the stairs.
http://connect.garmin.com/player/215488453
That is the first week of school in a nutshell. Classes seem to be good and I think I have a good group of kids, time will tell! Hope you are all managing to keep cool. I have no air in my house so there have been plenty of days where it is 90-91 degrees (yes, that's inside my house!) when I get home!
I will leave you with a video I show my kids at the beginning of the year. Hope you enjoy it and remember it's message!
